Our Care Approach
Through an extensive process of change, the nursing home has evolved into three individual community households which people regard as home. This process involves changing the culture and the physical environment of our nursing homes. You can find more information about this process here.
Fundamental to this approach is our belief that we are all entitled to choose how we live our lives - when we wake up in the morning, what we eat at each meal, and how we spend our days. This is a big challenge. Meeting this challenge means that we achieve the essence of home and everything this stands for.
Each household has their own front door, porch, kitchen, living room and dining room. Each household has its own staff, rather than a rotating number of people providing care. Shared public spaces and maintained private spaces replace long, depressing hallways. Spaces are built for favourite activities, from reading to gardening to exercising. Private visiting areas are available for residents to meet with family and friends.
